도아님이 확인을 해보니 일반 명사도 필터링을 한다고 합니다. 부당한 경우 예외신청을 통해서 심의를 한다고 합니다. 때가 때인지라 우연히(?) 인지 아닌지는 두고볼 일입니다.

구글, 표현의 자유를 존중? 웃기지마!

문제의 요지는 문맥광고인 애드워즈(AdWords)에서 정부관련 키워드를 올해초부터 차단한다는 것입니다.
구글이 자신들을 소개할때 사용하던 '악하지 않다 (do not evil)' 라는 것에 대해서 다시금 생각해보게 만들었습니다.

악하지 않다.

'악' 이란게 무엇일까요?

이럴때는 사전 찾아보는게 제일입니다.

악(惡)은 도덕적 또는 종교적 관점에서 부정적인 것을 가리킨다. 옳지 못하며 이기적인 행동을 의미하여 ‘죄’와 유사한 의미로 쓰이기도 한다. ‘악’은 종종 착하고 올바르며 헌신적인 ‘선(善)’과 대비된다.

공통적으로 사용되는 것은 '도덕적'이라는 부분입니다. 도덕적이라는 것은 누구나 나쁘지 않다고 이해할만한 것들입니다.
'악하지 않다' 라는 말은 '나쁘지 않다' 라고 해석을 해도 무방합니다.
그래서 많은 사람들이 구글의 이런 이념을 높게 평가하고 함께 하고자 노력을 하고, 다른 사람들에게도 함께 할수 있는 방법을 알려주는 등의 행동을 하였습니다.

하지만 잘 생각해보면 말장난 같지만, 나쁘지 않다 일뿐이지, 좋다는 것은 아닙니다.
마케팅차원에서 하는 말장난이라면 '아차' 할 일이겠지만, 좋다는 것으로 믿고 생각하던 사람들에게는 그것은 순간적인 실수따위로 치부할 것이 아닌 머리를 강타하는 듯한 일 일것입니다.

국내지사가 있는만큼 국내영업에 힘쓰고자 하는 바를 모르는 부분은 아니지만,
많은 사람들이 생각하는 구글은 나쁘지 않을 뿐만 아니라 정직하고 민주주의를 존중하는[주:자세한 내용은 구글의 경영철학을 보시기 바랍니다.] 좋은 기업 이였어야 했습니다.
